Pastor Scott Jones

Our pastor is a South Haven - NW Indiana guy. Pastor Scott Jones was raised here. His mom and dad were steel workers. He is from a blue collar people and he understands this community as well as anyone. He speaks with a sense of understanding. He understands his own relationship with Jesus & he has an ability to make the Bible feel real and relevant in our times and our situations.

Scott comes across a bit like a friendly football coach with a passion like Mike Ditka. He has an encouraging message of hope...for even those of us who who feel most hopeless. There is nothing fake about this pastor and you'll even laugh a bit as he tells stories about life, work, school, the difficulties of marriage, the joys and troubles of kids, and even his own struggles with God.

Favorite Bible Verse (and why): John 13:35
When my sediment settles, John's verse reminds me that my love for people (as defined in 1 Cor.13) is where Christ is seen.
It re-rails me.

Where are you originally from? National City, California

Briefly share your journey into ministry here: After calls, prayers, peace in the decision,
I said, "I can't get there"…
Then 13 people from Renovation with trucks and trailers showed up and drug Sharon and I 6+ hours to begin this adventure.
I was responding to my Grandfather's last words to me…"Timmy, when the Old Man wants something, don't fight him too hard"

Spouse/Kids/Pets (if applicable): I chased Sharon Swanson McGuire 'till she caught me. We have 3 kids: Kylie (Josh) McLaren, Kacie (Nolan) Duffy, Kody (Kayla) McGuire. And yes, there are at least 5&1/2 expansions they are contributing to my chaos.
God is still stirring stuff.

Hobbies or interests: I'm most interested in finding God's fingerprints on stuff, chasing one girl who still thinks I'm worth the effort. I collect stories & toys that make me grin, build and fix old VWs. And have been a singer/songwriter since I was 5.

What do you love most about working at Renovation? I love scooting right up close to people who take real shots at following & sharing Jesus. They're everywhere here. This space won't hold all the examples. But tacos will loosen my tongue

Book: Stephen Lawhead-The Song Of Albion.

If you were not in ministry, you'd probably be...Starving as an artist. By now I would have exhausted most disciplines I could think of, and assistant managing a Taco Bell.

One thing that always makes you laugh: When two year olds get territorial, need a spanking, and clearly resemble politicians.
